In April, 2015, the Siloam Center for the Blind has cooperated with Uzbekistan Soglom Avlod Uchun in order to execute the educational rehabilitation supporting project. The center has been passing on the know-how of the existing educational rehabilitation program in the local to improve the competence of the special education teachers. This project's final aim is to settle down more professional educatioal rehabilitation service for the disabled people in Uzbkeistan.
Therefore, the donation ceremony for the educational rehabilitation supporting project was conducted on 3rd October(Saturday). It was conducted for the public blind school in Tashkent city and the specialized school No58 for children with disabilities situated in Tashkent region, Akhangaran district.
The project has supported computer, keyboard, braille printer, slate board, and other educational equipments for the education of the disabled students at the public blind school in Tashkent city. Also, it has supported exercise, dance, music, language, other educational rehabilitation equipments for vocational training, and 2000 crutch tips to the specialized school No58 for children with disabilities situated in Tashkent region, Akhangaran district.
In future, the center plans to invite the local school staffs to Korea for training advanced social welfare environment for the disabled people. Also, it will consistently support braille book production and professional employees to enhance the blind's learning accessibility. The project will continue to focus on supporting the students' education and rehabilitation.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Siloam Center for the Blind signed MOU with Soglom Avlod Uchun in Uzbekistan last August 2016 and implements eye health support project, education support project for the disabled, support project of mobility assistive devices, etc.
For this, Siloam Center for the Blind invited medical team from Republican Ophthalmological Hospital of the Republic of Karakalpakstan to Korea and implemented trainings. Besides, Siloam Center for the Blind supported cataract surgery, eye treatments, and surgery materials by dispatching Korean medical team to the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
Also, Siloam Center for the Blind supported educational materials to the Specialized school No.70 for disabled children and implemented retraining and advanced training for special education teachers. Moreover, Siloam Center for the Blind provided wheelchairs for mobility of elderly Korean Diaspora with Disabilities in Arirang Nursing home.
